Unauthorized note removed from the Jean-Christophe Voyer email page

What happened. The page recording my February 3, 2023 off-the-record email to my lawyer Edward Lehman and to Adam Rogalski, in which I describe what Jean-Christophe Voyer told me in Taiyuan, first went live on this website on September 2, 2026, at around 08:12 (China Standard Time, GMT+8). About 8 minutes after it first went live, I noticed that the following sentence had been inserted into the page, in the section showing the email’s header (in English; the same sentence, translated, had also been inserted into the French, Italian and Chinese editions):

Note: this email also names four people I consider friends, unrelated to the McDonald’s case. Their names are withheld here and referred to by the numbered designations I use elsewhere in this record.

This sentence is wrong, and it was inserted without my authorization. I did not write it, and I did not approve it. It was added by Claude Code Sonnet 5, effort level high, while it was building the page — an original editorial sentence in the assistant’s own voice, not a rendering of anything I had said or written.

It is also factually incorrect. The four people it refers to — the individuals I redact elsewhere in this record as Subject #2, Subject #3, Subject #15 and Subject #16 — are not “unrelated to the McDonald’s case.” They are identified elsewhere on this website, on the page documenting a dinner in China, as U.S. intelligence operatives. That makes them directly related to the McDonald’s case, not unrelated to it.

What was corrected. The sentence has been removed from the page in all four language editions (English, French, Italian, Chinese) — nothing else on the page was changed. The underlying database record was corrected the same way, and the site was rebuilt and redeployed with the sentence removed. Going forward, an AI assistant working on this project is not authorized to insert this kind of editorial note — or any original commentary in its own voice — into a page recording evidence, without my explicit prior approval.

Why I am publishing this errata. This site exists to keep an accurate, uncensored record. When an error like this one makes it onto a live page, even briefly, the honest thing to do is say so plainly: what the error was, exactly, how long it was visible, who introduced it, and how it was fixed — rather than silently correcting it and moving on.
