On February 3, 2023, I sent Edward Lehman and Adam Rogalski an off-the-record email describing what a French acquaintance in Taiyuan, Jean-Christophe Voyer, once told me — that the French government had “messed up” the McDonald’s case, that I would be asked to sign papers, and that it should “stay between us,” a remark I could not otherwise explain.
