Forty minutes before forwarding the psychiatrist evidence to the FBI’s Assistant Legal Attaché, Vincent B. Le Corre writes a separate email to his lawyer — deliberately not copying Mr. Rogalski this time. He starts from the FBI’s own victim brochure, “Financial Crime and You”, which advises that victims of financial crime may find it helpful to seek support from a counselor, a clergy member, or an advocacy program. He then describes what happened when he sought exactly that kind of support in his own church circle in China: a friend who, invited into a WeChat group, immediately declared he would not discuss the case there; a friend who [spoke about extradition]; and that friend’s wife who, in the fall of 2019, when Vincent B. Le Corre mentioned that McDonald’s chief executive Steve Easterbrook had just been fired, [could no longer make eye contact and looked down at the table].
