A Chinese psychiatrist in Shanghai tells Vincent B. Le Corre that the French proceedings are psychological torture

In 2017, while still living in Shanghai, Vincent B. Le Corre decided to consult a psychiatrist. He asked the doctor whether he could record their exchanges and she agreed. Two transcripts drawn from those recordings were filed as evidence with the European Court of Human Rights, as part of the fifth of his applications — the one directed against France for violation of Article 3 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which prohibits torture and inhuman or degrading treatment.

At the first session, after almost an hour of conversation, the exchange runs as follows (transcript exhibit n° 000835, at 57m20):

Vincent LE CORRE : so the… anyway, the more I work on this, the more I hurt myself. But, it’s the only way to go. You know, it’s like, I feel it’s like psychological torture, in a way.

Chinese psychiatrist : yes. It is.

He was surprised that she agreed. At the sixth session, after some seven to eight hours of conversation in total, he deliberately asked her again — thinking that with fuller information she might have changed her view. Her answer (transcript exhibit n° 000836, at 1h07m42):

Chinese psychiatrist : I think the procedure of the lawsuit is a torture, psychological torture, for you

In October 2022 Vincent B. Le Corre sets all of this out to his lawyer Edward Lehman, attaching the two transcripts and the corresponding audio recordings.
